Bitcoin as a portfolio diversifier: the research case

A store-of-value thesis plus historically low medium-term correlation to traditional assets — with clear risk caveats.

TOBAM’s Bitcoin investment thesis can be summarised as follows: Bitcoin’s theoretical and empirical characteristics are such that it could potentially become a new store of value — sometimes described as “gold 2.0” — while also acting as a potent diversifier given historically non-significant medium-term correlation to traditional financial assets.

That thesis does not eliminate volatility, regulatory risk, or drawdowns. It argues for deliberate sizing and professional wrappers inside diversified institutional allocations.

Since the 2016 Crypto Research Project, TOBAM has built one of the longest open-ended Bitcoin strategy track records in the market and continues to publish on monetary trust and related equity ecosystems.
